There are many undesirable particles floating through our air, such as pollution, cigarette smoke, pet dander, mold spores, dirt and even bacteria. For those of us who live in or near a city, such as the Greater Boston area, air conditions can often be even worse. And while you cannot control the air outside, you can help control the air in your home.
Consider HEPA filtration for your home to help clean the air. HEPA stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air, and it's essentially used as a label for a filter that can collect air particles 0.03 microns or more in size. If you think about this, a micron 0.03 in size is smaller than anything the human eye can observe without magnification. Another way to think about a HEPA filtration system is that the device will filter out more than 99 percent of the particles it encounters.
HEPA air filtration systems
So you think HEPA filtration could significantly improve the air quality inside your home but are not sure what the next step might be? Speak to the experts at Rodenhiser Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning to discuss the right type of HEPA system for you and your home.
Most HEPA filtration air cleaners work with your home’s central heating and cooling system to help continuously clean the air that circulates through the house. The contaminated air first moves through a larger pre-filter, where bigger particles are caught, then continues through the HEPA filter, which traps the remaining, smaller particles. The air finally moves through a charcoal/carbon filter that removes odors or fumes and passes the clean air back into the home.
Benefits
Some of the potential benefits of a HEPA filtration system include capturing a variety of particles that may contribute to illness and allergies, such as pet dander, pollen, dust mites, mold spores, bacteria, fungi, cleaning vapors, cooking fumes and common viruses.
