Check for Air Leaks and Drafts

Leaks and drafts through cracks in walls, doors and windows will lower your home’s temperature resulting in long run times for your heating system and increased energy bills. Weatherstripping doors and windows, insulating your attic, and hanging blackout curtains will also limit heat loss.

Check Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detectors

Carbon monoxide is a toxic gas that is commonly produced as a byproduct of fireplaces, wood stoves, water heaters, ranges, and gas-powered furnaces. Make sure your family is safe by checking the batteries for all detectors and testing to ensure they are working properly.

Prep Outside

Avoid frozen pipes, costly damage and leaks from ice damns by winterizing all outdoor spigots, clearing gutters, checking the roof for leaks and clearing any debris. Also inspect outdoor lighting to repair exposed wires or broken bulbs and cover or move patio furniture inside. Don’t forget to stock up on salt and sand!
