There are two times a year that work best for scheduling an HVAC system tune-up. Towards the second half of spring is the best time to have your cooling system checked. You should also have your heating system tuned by fall. During this time air filters in these units should be changed, dirty parts should be cleaned, and the functionality of each unit should be tested.
You may want to consider a more frequent filter change if you have a smoker in the house, pets such as a dog or cat that shed frequently, or if some people living in your home have allergies. Filters tend to get dirty faster under these circumstances. Change them regularly to keep your HVAC systems working optimally.
Don't risk the quality of the air in your home or waste money by not maintaining your heating and cooling units properly. Poorly functioning units will only waste energy and therefore raise your utility bills. Schedule regular tune-ups and remember, change those filters!
Our goal is to help educate our customers about energy and home comfort issues (specific to HVAC systems). For more information about when to change air filters and other HVAC topics, download our free Home Comfort Solutions Guide.
